Our 2013 Annual General Meeting will be taking place the latter part of April and there are board members whose term end this year. It is our practice and commitment to inclusion and governance to ask for other interested applicants for board positions prior to our AGM. The role of the board is to govern the organisation. Inherent in the board’s governance role are two functions: 1. The board’s job is to represent the public’s interest in assuring that the agency serves effectively. 2. The second function of the board is to enable the organization to effectively and successfully achieve its purpose. To do this, the board has both formal (governance) and informal (helping) responsibilities. The reality of most nonprofits is that board members also have to provide additional volunteer help in areas such as planning, fund-raising, and community relations if the organization is to succeed. Serving as a member of a Board of Directors of a nonprofit organization can be one of the most important, influential, and satisfying experiences of your life. If you are interested in becoming a board member for EBB, please fill out the application form here and send your resume to dexter.horton@clayburnmiddle.com no later than March 22nd, 2013. If you know someone whose skill set (we are especially interested in a variety of perspectives: business, legal, partnerships, fundraising, networking, government, policy, etc.) may be well suited to serve for two years in this capacity, please forward this email to them. Thank you, Noble Kelly, EBB President & Founder |
