Literacy is my main area of expertise. I was a primary teacher for many years and for the last 5 years I have been teaching Grades 4 and 5. I have therefore taught all subject areas except music.

Skills & Interests
I am especially interested in literacy and in providing elementary classrooms with a wealth of suitable books. About 6 years ago I completed a two year post bac certificate in Literacy for All Learners through Simon Fraser University. This program enabled me to become a much more effective teacher. I might be able to assist other teachers in literacy teaching. I have an abiding interest in environmental education, some experience, but no expertise.
If you have done work internationally, where and in what capacity?
I have not worked as an educator internationally. My only experience as an international volunteer was a brief (2 week) stint with a team building a house in Nicaragua (Habitat for Humanity) about five years ago.
If you are willing to volunteer, in what area(s):
curriculum development, only interested in receiving information
How did you hear about us and a few words why you want to join EBB:
I have heard about EBB through emails from Larry Kuehn at BCTF. For many years I have dreamed of assisting in the development of high quality education in a developing country. Now that I am 61 and nearing retirement, I am, unfortunately, wondering if I have sufficient stamina. Since September I have been working only 3 days per week, which suits my current energy level.
