I have a 4 year B.Ed. from UBC with a 5th year Diploma in Adult Education. I have been teaching since 1974. As a Learning Strategies (teaching reading, writing & math) specialist for many years, I worked directly with students and on a collaborative-consultative basis with other staff members. I currently teach in a Learning Center delivering individualized instruction in math and science to at-risk students.
I am also taking a leadership role in furthering the integration of Web 2.0 tools and resources into instruction at our school. I am a technology mentor in SD36 and a grad assistant a Wilkes University where I will begin an online Masters in Instructional Media starting in March '09.
I'm passionate about integration of web-based tools and resources to make instruction more engaging. I think I bring a special insight into how to encourage near techno-dino's to try new web-based tools and resources because until 16 moths ago I was one myself. I really want to work with other teachers and studentsin a hands-on situations.
Note -- I understand French fairly well and taught it in the 1970's. If I were to take an intense refresher, I could make my way fairly well.
