Skills & Interests
I am currently a secondary school teacher in Toronto, teaching English and Canadian history. I am also currently pursuing my PhD degree in Education at the Faculty of Education, York University in Toronto. My areas of interest include international education, global citizenship education, and the internationalization of higher education.
If you have done work internationally, where and in what capacity?
From May – August 2004 I worked as an international Intern, at the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd). I was selected out of a number of candidates by York International as intern within the York International Internship Program (the program won two awards from the Canadian Bureau of International Education in 2005 for its global outlook on education ad its programs aimed at preparing students for living and working with other cultures). As an intern I acted as Canadian cultural and York ambassador to the host organization. I worked with various professors at HKIEd, as an educational and research assistant for their various modules and education projects. I led English conversational tutorials for group of in-service Hong Kong teachers. I also taught summer language program at local Hong Kong high school. Finally, I ventured into a rural village in mainland China to visit two schools, observe as well as teach sample lessons, and learn from a completely different educational system.

In 2007-2008 I completed my MA in Comparative Education at the University of London, Institute of Education. While I was pursuing my masters degree, I supply taught in over 40 different London primary and secondary schools.
If you are willing to volunteer, in what area(s):
curriculum development, internships, mentor teaching, researchers, workshop facilitation
How did you hear about us and a few words why you want to join EBB:
EBB perfectly aligns with my interests in international education and using my knowledge and skills to help young people in an international context.
