Experts believe that children should begin learning as soon as possible to stimulate their minds for elementary school. As a parent, you can find an assortment of ways to teach your child before she enrolls in a public elementary school.
If you want to teach your child for free, then have a library card. Not only can you borrow wonderful children’s books, but also, libraries have informative DVDs that will teach your child about animals such as horses, dinosaurs or cats. In addition, your local library will have visiting speakers who will bring along birds or science equipment. Some libraries also offer free seasonal craft classes to make items for various holidays.
You can take your child on nature walks at local parks to see wildlife and plants. Also, make sure to call your city’s park and recreation department to learn about its free or low-cost programs. Recreation departments may have programs for Earth Day. This day occurs on April 22, and many park departments have programs about recycling and planting trees or flowers for the entire week before this special day.
Many hobby clubs and nonprofit organizations offer learning opportunities for children to teach them about collecting stamps or coins. These groups frequently have free lectures from speakers from other locations, and older children who are mature enough to sit still and listen can learn about an assortment of topics such as birds or astronomy.
Throughout the year, find places to take your child for a day trip so that she can learn something new. In the late spring, you can find fairs where there are animals such as sheep, rabbits and pigs. During the autumn, you can take your child to an apple farm or pumpkin patch so that he can learn more about growing vegetables and fruits.
Don’t wait until your child is old enough for a preschool or kindergarten to find the best one. Some of these schools like Miniapple International Montessori School and similar institutions can be very competitive, and you must have your name on a waiting list to enroll. Make sure to find an early educational institution that meets your child’s personality.
Avoid forcing your child to learn new information because it will create resentment. Early educational opportunities are meant to be fun for younger children who are learning new information without realizing it.
