Education Beyond Borders

I'm interested in Michael's post about teaching in Guatamala. I'm at the other end of my teaching career in Canada but I'm interested in the type of opportunities he mentions. Are there opportunities outside the capitals?
Are these schools focussed on expats or the local population. I'd love to hear more after you've started.

Hi Ida ... at the Queen's Job Fair there was a whole range of opportunities at a whole variety of schools. Some in cities, some in the middle of nowhere. I interviewed with a school at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Some schools were totally focused on expats, some almost totally on locals.

I recommend checking out the Queen's Teacher's Overseas Recruiting Fair website. (I included the link at the top of my blog post) Too late for this year, but it has a list of the schools that attended, and LOTS of general information on the whole "international school" scene.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, keeping in mind I just got back from the fair and haven't actually gone anywhere, yet. :) I can tell you that experienced teachers were snapped up quickly at the job fair, so there seem to be lots of opportunities out there!
