Working on Carousel and moving between as animal families. Great fun!!!!
Today is our last day of facilitator workshops in King'ori before we begin the larger teacher workshops in Leguruki and Nagaronuki next week.
We've worked with teacher facilitators to develop workshops focusing on inquiry, collaborative and differentiated learning. Our large goal is to develop strategies that will help teachers focus on creating learner centered classroom environments. There have been ups and downs as we negotiated language difficulties between the Canadians and Tanzanians. Fortunately we've had teachers acting as translators to clarify meaning.
We've also worked with teacher facilitators on developing Professional Learning Clusters in their wards(communities) in order to share ideas and work together. Noble has set up a facebook page for the group to be able to share and communicate together. This week he had previously worked with all of the facilitators to set up gmail accounts and begin working on computers. There were varying degrees of computer comfort from people who had never touched the computer to others who have regular internet access.
I'm looking forward to next week to see how all of our preparation comes together as we begin working on teacher training.
