Skills & Interests
I have done extensive teacher professional development for many years in areas including: special education, gifted education, classroom management, assessment, and teaching/learning foundations. I continue to teach at the graduate level in the area of Social Justice in Education. Since retiring 6 months ago I have made several invited keynote addresses to inspire teachers to remember that our job is not just to teach children how to make a living, it's - and perhaps more importantly - about teaching children how to make a life.

I coordinated the development of all of the new secondary school curriculum for the Ontario Ministry of Education in the late 1990s.
If you have done work internationally, where and in what capacity?
Prishtina, Kosovo: Conducted a feasability assessment for working with the schools in this city five months after the end of the fighting in 1999. I returned twice during the winter/spring of 2000 to work with teachers, parents, and students and to develop an Psychological First Aid kit for teachers to use in supporting children who have suffered through a war.

I also led a 2-week education group to Bartica, Guyana. One week we worked in a local school. The second week was developed to teacher professional development.

I have inspected private schools in China on behalf of the government of Ontario.
If you are willing to volunteer, in what area(s):
curriculum development, evaluation measurements, mentor teaching, organisational partnerships, researchers, workshop facilitation
How did you hear about us and a few words why you want to join EBB:
A friend sent me your way. I'm guessing if you've already read the boxes above you already know why I want to join TWB-Canada. I have had a lifelong passion to support better education for all and now that I've retired seems like a great opportunity too good to pass up.
